Lake Valley Ghost Town
Lake Valley was a silver mining town in Sierra County, New Mexico.  Silver deposits were first discovered in 1876.  But the discovery of the famously-named "Bridal Chamber" - which alone yielded 78 tons of silver - sent the town into a "heyday" that would run from 1881-1893.  Today, the ghost town is owned partly by the US Bureau of Land Management and partly by private owners with two caretakers onsite at all times.
